Braves' prospect Ozzie Albies leaves playoff game with apparent injury

There was already speculation that Ozzie Albies would receive a September call-up for the Braves, a notion that was no doubt strengthened when he won a Southern League batting title.

There has been no word as to the severity of Albies' injury, or if he's even injured, as the M-Braves fell 6-5 in Game 1 of their divisional round matchup. The series continues Thursday in Pensacola.

Albies 371 plate appearances for Mississippi, but in order to win the battling title, a player needs a minimum of 2.7 appearances per game, giving them 378 in total. Via Rule 9.22(a), Albies was awarded seven more at-bats (in which he was marked 0-for-7), which dropped his overall average from .321 to .315, but the new figure was enough to beat out Tennessee's Chesny Young, who hit .303 in 491 at-bats.

Between Triple-A Gwinnett and Mississippi, Albies hit .292 with 33 doubles, 10 triples, six homers and 52 RBI. He began the season with the M-Braves, moved up to Gwinnett in April (hitting .248 in 56) games, then rejoined the Double-A affiliate June 30.
