Braves designate OF Young for assignment, promote Terdoslavich
ATLANTA -- The Braves designated veteran outfielder Eric Young Jr. for assignment on Friday, just two months after the free-agent pickup was Atlanta's opening-day starter at center field.
With Cameron Maybin serving as the club's established starter in center, Young's demotion should come as no surprise.
Through 35 games, the 30-year-old held marginal tallies with homers (zero), RBI (five), runs (seven), steals (three), batting average (.169), on-base percentage (.229) and OPS (.502).
To balance out the 25-man roster, the Braves promoted slugger Joey Terdoslavich (reinstated from the disabled list) to the majors.
Through nine games in the minors this season (at three different levels), Terdoslavich has a .310 batting average and cumulative OBP of .389.
