COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After Michigan lost to Ohio State Saturday to finish its season at 5-7, Brady Hoke said he plans to be the Wolverines' head coach next year.
"That's what I know right now," Hoke said.
He didn't say much else. Eventually, Hoke will speak with Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett, who said earlier this month he would hold a full review with Hoke at the end of the season.
As far as meetings, Hoke said he plans to meet with his players Tuesday afternoon.
Citing the overall youth on the roster and returning talent, Hoke said he believes the Michigan program is headed in the right direction despite three consecutive years of winning fewer games than the season prior. Michigan went 11-2, beat Ohio State and won the Sugar Bowl in 2011, Hoke's first season on the job.
Asked to evaluate the job he's done in those four seasons, Hoke declined.
"Let me think about it," he said. "I'm disappointed. Disappointed for our kids."
Michigan was 8-5 in 2012 with a loss in the Outback Bowl, 7-6 in 2013 with a loss in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl and 5-7 this season. Hoke is 31-20 in four years at Michigan.
