Bobcats Spurs preview

The Bobcats didn't even go one game totally healthy before another injury impacts the lineup.  Rookie Bismack Biyombo has a strained left shoulder and will sit out tonight against the Spurs, after suffering the injury in the first quarter of the game on Wednesday against the Pistons.  Bismack was getting into the swing of things as the starting center, playing with a toughness that opposing bigs have to respect. He was also making advances in his offensive game where he was less hesitant on where to go after receiving the pass. He could come back Sunday against New Jersey. Gana Diop will start in his place.

The Spurs had the NBA's best record in February at 11-2. It's amazing because the Spurs took their annual Rodeo road swing of nine games while the Rodeo takes over their home arena area. They went an amazing 8-1 on the road trip. They have only had Manu Ginobili for nine games this season, but Tony Parker has ratcheted up his play to lead the Spurs in scoring at 19 points a game.

The Bobcats are hoping that the second half of the season will be a little more consistent than the first from an offensive standpoint. Having Corey Maggette, D.J. Augustin, and Gerald Henderson healthy will be the key. Boris Diaw and Tyrus Thomas are off from last season's production by 30%. If they get back to what they did last season things would be a lot better for the Bobcats.  It goes without saying that no one would have expected that both players would descend from 11.2 points a game to 7.7 in Diaw's case and from 10.2 to 6.0 in Thomas' situation.
