Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky off IR, Calvert sidelined indefinitely

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky off Injured Reserve, placed left wing Matt Calvert on Injured Reserve and assigned goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Wednesday.

Bobrovsky, 27, has missed the past 10 games after suffering a groin strain on December 8 vs. Los Angeles. He is 11-12-1 with a 2.52 goals-against average, .916 save percentage and one shutout in 25 games this season. The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has compiled a 136-83-25 record with a 2.51 goals-against average, .918 save percentage and 12 shutouts in 255 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers. Acquired from Philadelphia via trade on June 22, 2012, he has gone 94-60-15 with a 2.41 goals-against average, .922 save percentage and 12 shutouts in 172 appearances with Columbus and won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender following the 2012-13 campaign.

Calvert, 26, recorded a goal prior to suffering a lower body injury in the third period of Tuesday night's contest vs. the Dallas Stars. He will be sidelined indefinitely. Calvert has tallied 6-1-7 and 20 penalty minutes in 39 games this season. The Brandon, Manitoba native has registered 48-45-93 and 161 penalty minutes in 248 career NHL games after being selected with the club's fifth pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.

Korpisalo, 21, went 1-4-0 with a 3.65 goals-against average and .886 save percentage in five games with the Blue Jackets this season. He recorded 27 saves in a 2-1 loss vs. Tampa Bay in his NHL debut on December 14 and turned aside 30 shots and stopped five-of-six shootout attempts to record his first NHL win in a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia on December 19. He has also compiled a 5-4-2 record with a 2.12 goals against average, .928 save percentage and two shutouts in 11 games with Lake Erie.

The Pori, Finland native is 5-6-2 with a 2.34 goals-against average and .918 save percentage and two shutouts in 14 career AHL games since making his North American professional debut with the Springfield Falcons late in the 2014-15 season. Columbus' third pick, 62nd overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft, he went 14-13-7 with a 2.34 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 38 games with Ilves Tampere (Liiga) in 2014-15.
