DUBLIN (AP) Rugby union's world governing body says Bill Beaumont has been nominated by England for the position of chairman.

Beaumont, a former England player, is the chairman at the Rugby Football Union. He announced his intention to stand for the same role at World Rugby earlier this month when current incumbent Bernard Lapasset said he would not seek re-election.

Agustin Pichot, who played for Argentina, was nominated by his country's federation to succeed Oregan Hoskins as vice chairman.

The deadline for nominations was last Saturday. No other candidates were announced.

The elections will be held in Dublin on May 11. A candidate will need a simple majority to be elected.

The chairman and vice chairman will serve a four-year term starting on July 1.
