Big Book wins Santa Anita feature by a head

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Big Book won the $58,000 feature for fillies and mares by a head Friday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Martin Pedroza, Big Book ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.76 and paid $7.60, $3.40 and $3.

Savannah Sky returned $3.40 and $2.80 as the 5-2 second choice. Light Striker was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $9.40 to show at 63-1 odds.

Street Surrender finished last as the 8-5 favorite.

The victory, worth $45,240, increased Big Book's career earnings to $139,640, with three wins in six starts. The 4-year-old filly had been idle since losing to three-time Eclipse Award-winning filly Beholder in the Grade 1 Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita on Sept. 26.

Big Book is trained by Tim Yakteen and owned and bred by George Krikorian, who is a commissioner on the California Horse Racing Board.
