'Best buds' Evans, Manziel swap jerseys after game
Well-documented is the friendship between former Texas A&M teammates Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans. That relationship carried over into the first time the two were on opposite sides of the field in an NFL game.
While Evans was hitting paydirt for his pro team, Manziel was doing what he's done for most of his rookie season -- sitting.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver invoked Manziel on both of his touchdown receptions by celebrating with the Cleveland Browns quarterback's signature "money sign" hand movement.
"We're best buds and I just wanted to give him a hard time," Evans said of the post-touchdown moves.
In the Bucs locker room after the game, Evans zipped into his bag a signed No. 2 Browns Manziel jersey.
"He said 'good game, bro' and we signed the jerseys and swapped," Evans said about his postgame meeting with Manziel. "And, after the season, he said, 'We'll hang out.'"
Leading up to the Browns-Bucs matchup, Evans said on a conference call that when Manziel gets his shot, "he's never going to come off the field."
That time still hasn't come, as Manziel hasn't seen the field since Week 3. Led by Brian Hoyer at quarterback, the Browns defeated the Bucs 22-17.
