Bengals rookie Larry Black placed on injured reserve

Prior to their preseason opener against Atlanta, the Bengals announced defensive lineman Larry Black had cleared waivers and is headed to injured reserve.
Black, an undrafted rookie who played at Wyoming High School and Indiana University, was part of some of the most memorable scenes from the first episode of this season's "Hard Knocks" series on HBO that aired for the first time Wednesday night.

The TV cameras caught Black both being rolled up on by fellow defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry and Black's teary-eyed reaction to the news he had a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
Head coach Marvin Lewis was among those to lament losing a local guy who had showed promise at defensive tackle during OTAs and the start of camp.
Black was lightly recruited at Wyoming but grew into a two-year starter for the Hoosiers. He finished his career in Bloomington with 127 tackles, including 27.5 for loss and eight sacks.
