Bengals president Mike Brown had what the team has called a minor medical situation Sunday morning in Phoenix and is not expected to attend the team's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Brown, 79, was being treated for precautionary reasons and is expected to fly back to Cincinnati ahead of the team.
Brown has officially been running the franchise since his father and team founder Paul Brown passed away in 1991, although he actually took over day-to-day control well prior to his father's death. He has delegated more authority over the day-to-day operations of the franchise to his daughter Katie Blackburn and head coach Marvin Lewis over the past few years. He told local TV station FOX19 prior to the start of this preseason that "the ball's essentially been handed off" when it comes to his daily involvement.
After Sunday night's game against the Cardinals, the Reds will wrap up their preseason schedule Thursday night at home against Indianapolis.
