BEREA, Ohio -- Browns linebacker Marcus Benard will undergo further testing today, 24 hours after collapsing in the locker room and being taken to a local hospital.

Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini said Benard "fainted" and won't practice Friday but isn't ruled out for Sunday's game with the Jets.

Benard was
sitting up on a stretcher when he was placed in an ambulance and
transported to a hospital about two miles from the Browns' training facility 30 minutes later.

He was released at 8:15 Thursday night. Early Thursday afternoon a Browns spokesman said Benard was alert and resting.

Benard was seated at a chair in front of his locker before falling to
the ground. The team's medical
staff rushed to assist Benard, who never lost consciousness. The incident happened just before the 3-5 Browns took to the practice
field.

Benard, who made the team as an undrafted rookie out of Jackson State in 2009, leads the Browns with 4.5 sacks this season.
