ASU women dominate in win over Arizona

The Arizona State women's basketball team defeated rival Arizona 75-43 on Sunday, snapping a two-game skid while extending the Wildcats' losing streak to three games.

The Sun Devils improved to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in the Pac-10, while the Wildcats fell to 11-5 overall and 2-3 in Pac-10 play.

Guard Kimberly Brandon led ASU with 13 points and 10 rebounds -- her fourth double-double of the season -- and forward Becca Tobin added 12 points and six boards. Tenaya Watson (11 points) also finished in double figures for the Sun Devils.

Arizona sophomore guard Davellyn White tied Brandon for game-high honors with 13 points, and forward Soana Lucet led the Wildcats with six rebounds.

It was all ASU in the first half, as the Sun Devils shot 14 for 31 from the field while holding the Wildcats to a 5-of-26 performance over the first 20 minutes. ASU went ahead less than 2 minutes into the game and pulled away late in the half with a 16-2 run, taking a commanding 34-15 lead into the break.

The Wildcats' shooting improved in the second half, but it wasn't nearly enough. ASU led by as many as 35 points in the second half.

Arizona finished 1 for 10 for the game from 3-point range while ASU finished 6 for 12, with Watson and Alex Earl each going 2 for 3 behind the arc.

The Sun Devils outrebounded the Wildcats 41-30.

Point guard Dymond Simon had nine points and three assists for ASU. Earl finished with eight points and Markisha Patterson had seven points and five rebounds off the bench.

The Wildcats got six points each from Candice Warthen and Erica Barnes, who also had six rebounds. Point guard Shanita Arnold had five assists in the loss.

Sunday's win was ASU's 11th in a row over Arizona.
