Asante Samuel doesn't get why sexuality is such a big deal
Why make a fuss if someone announces they're gay? Asante Samuel can't seem to figure it out. The Falcons cornerback joined FOX Sports Radio (through NFL.com) and addressed the topic of NBA player Jason Collins coming out as gay. Let's make one thing clear though: Samuel has no problem at all with Collins being a homosexual. "All respect you know, I have nothing but respect for the people whoever decisions they make and whatever," Samuel said. "but you know, you don't have to show it and flaunt it like that. You know what I'm saying, we have kids out here, too." "Straight people are not announcing they're straight, so why does everybody have to announce their sexuality or whatever? You know, what they prefer." Samuel would rather the focus be on what athletes do on the field instead of focusing on their off-the-field lifestyles. "What you did the last game, keep that like that. You don't have to go into detail about other things. Lets keep it about the touchdowns, the baskets made, the shots, the assists, the goals made." Hmmm, should we be offended by his remarks? That's for you to decide.
