Comedian Artie Lange continued the media blitz to promote his new book, "Crash and Burn" by appearing on "The Buzz with Jimmy Traina." However, this interview was slightly different than the ones Lange has done in the past because he was surprised by Fox broadcaster Joe Buck.
You may remember that Buck and Lange have some history. Well, bygones are certainly bygones. Buck wrote the very funny foreword to "Crash and Burn" and the two shared many laughs on "The Buzz," and Buck wrote the forward to the book, which may surprise some people.
"That's exactly why I wrote the foreward to be honest with you," Buck said on "The Buzz."
"Obviously, I'm there for whatever Artie needs. Secondly, the whole notion that I was somehow upset or sucking my thumb and crying after that [HBO] show fed the whole notion of what people think of me. They think they have a handle on the kind of guy I am and what pissed me off more than anything, was that HBO reacted the way they did and I got thrown into the HBO camp because I was working there and I worked for people that were scared."
"So when Artie asked me [to write the foreward], I wanted to tell my side of it. I still have people yelling at me, 'ARTIE LANGE,' when I walk to a broadcast booth, and it's like 'OK, got it.'' But if they think it bothers me, it only pisses me off and bothers me because it DOESN'T bother me."
Lange was thrilled with Buck's writing, saying, "The forward is hilarious and well written and makes the book special. He didnât hesitate to say yes and it makes the book go to another level."
The duo also discussed Buck's profane ending to the foreward, Twitter and more.
Before Buck joined the show, Lange talked what it was like to write a book so raw and honest.
In comparing "Crash and Burn" to his previous book, "Too Fat to Fish," Lange said, "It's a much more serious book about the last five years of my life. We tried to put some lighter stories in there for laughs and some jokes in some parts, but you canât do that. It doesnât make sense. Itâs a cautionary tale. I left it very, very crazy on purpose. Honest and brutal, because I'm hoping itâll deter people [from using drugs] after they read it."
