To commence the Angels' 50th Anniversary celebration on Opening Night vs. Toronto (April 8, 2011), the Angels will wear retro jerseys worn during the late 1980's.
This will mark the start of the "Flashback Friday" celebration as the Angels will wear throwback uniforms on all 13 Friday home games. The 80's uniform will also be worn during the following two Friday home games; April 22 versus the Red Sox and May 6 versus the Indians. The remaining "Flashback Friday" uniforms will be announced soon.
The uniforms, provided by Majestic, will feature the vintage block club lettering and piping along the neck, sleeves and pants that embodied the late 80's look worn by Angel greats such a Wally Joyner, Jim Abbott, Chuck Finley, Mark Langston and for two seasons, Bert Blyleven, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
In addition, the left sleeve on the uniform will feature the 50th Anniversary commemorative patch. The hats provided, by New Era, will also bear the 50th Anniversary logo on the left side of the cap. Additionally, Rawlings will be supplying helmets to the Angels with the appropriate look and style of the era.
The Majestic jerseys and New Era caps will be available for sale in the Angel Stadium Team Store in the coming weeks.
Angels Baseball 50th Anniversary Celebration
The 2011 Angels campaign theme is More Than "A" Season, an event that will
encompass a 12-month celebration of 50 years of Angels Baseball. Throughout the year, Angels
fans will experience a season unlike any they have ever seen before. The 50th Anniversary is
about the fans and their celebration of great moments throughout Angels' history. Many unique
events are centered on fan interaction including retro nights and giveaways, 81 first pitches with
former Halos, special programming on Fox Sports West, AM830 and more.
