The saga surrounding the ball Alex Rodriguez slugged for his 3,000th hit, which happened to be a home run, has a happy ending.
Zack Hample, the fan who snagged the dinger June 21, is giving the ball to A-Rod, who is making $21 million in 2015, in exchange for the Yankees donating $150,000 to Pitch In For Baseball, a charity organization that provides new and little used baseball and softball equipment to children around the world.
In an amusing twist, the Yankees won't pay A-Rod a $6 million bonus for any of his home run milestones, but they'll gladly fork over $150K for his 3,000th hit.
Everyone loves a bargain.
