Aikman says Romo a better QB than he was
Troy Aikman won 11 postseason games and three Super Bowl rings during his 12 years as quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
Tony Romo has one playoff victory and no Super Bowl rings in his six seasons as the Cowboys' starting quarterback.
However, the Hall of Famer on Tuesday said Romo is already the better QB.
"I think Tony already is a better quarterback than I was," Aikman told The Brownsville Herald in Texas. "I know how quarterbacks are judged, but as far as his playmaking ability and the things that he is capable of doing, he is a far more athletic quarterback, capable of making more plays than I ever was able to."
The high praise didn't end there. Aikman, a Super Bowl MVP and six-time Pro Bowl selection in the 1990s, also passed along a Super Bowl prediction.
"He has a good team around him," Aikman added, "and, hopefully, and I believe this will happen, I believe that he will win a Super Bowl before he is done playing."
Sure, Romo's statistics are already approaching those of Aikman in half the number of starts, but the inflation comes courtesy of the NFL becoming a pass-happy league. The only way Romo deserves to be mentioned alongside Aikman is if he wins at least one Vince Lombardi trophy.
