LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Elijah Brown scored 31 points to help New Mexico beat New Mexico State 83-74 on Sunday night in a game marred by Lobos forward Devon Williams' collapse midway through the second half.

Williams was taken to a hospital, and New Mexico coach Craig Neal said the player has a neck injury.

The Lobos (2-0) have won nine straight on their rival's home court and 14 of the last 17 Rio Grande Rivalry contests. The Aggies (1-1) have not beaten New Mexico in Las Cruces since the 2007-08 season.

Cullen Neal had 18 points for New Mexico.

Pascal Siakam scored 23 points and Ian Baker added another 19 for New Mexico State.
