On the last day of April, the Braves were in the midst of a nine-game losing streak and five games out of first place in the National League East.

Man, what a difference a month makes.

Now today, the last day of May, the Braves are only a half game back of Philadelphia, with the two teams starting a three-game series at Turner Field this afternoon.

The Braves have gone 20-8 since breaking the losing streak on April 30 against the Astros, so 19-8 in the month of May. The Phillies are 16-11 in the month of May and have hit the skids offensively.

Philadelphia has scored only seven runs in its last eight games, including five shutouts. They are 2-6 in that stretch with of course one of those wins being the perfect game by Roy Halladay Saturday night in Florida.

And since May 18, the Phillies have scored only 19 runs in 12 games (1.58 runs per game). That
