Taking a look at the two players the Cavaliers selected in the 2014 NBA Draft on Thursday:
Andrew Wiggins, 6-8, SF/SG, Kansas
Selected: No. 1 overall
Strengths: Outstanding length, extraordinary athlete who can defend wings and really finish on break. Exceptional lateral quickness and a great leaper. Fairly cerebral player. Could be a dynamic scorer quickly. Reminds some of Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant.
Weaknesses: Can't go left. Inconsistent. Occasionally seemed casual on the court in college.
Fast Facts: Son of former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins, who spent a combined six years with the Bulls, Rockets and 76ers. Brother, Nick, was a senior this past season for Wichita State, which went undefeated during the regular season. Mother, Marita, ran track for Canada in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
Joe Harris, 6-6, SG, Virginia
Selected: No. 33 overall (second round)
Strengths: Fantastic shooter with great range. Can spot up or shoot on the move. Drew comparisons to former Virginia Cavalier and NBA guard Rick Carlisle -- drafted 30 years ago this summer and now the coach of the Mavericks.
Weaknesses: Not a good one-on-one defender or real strong passer. Seemed to get worse his senior year, as scoring average dipped from 16.3 in 2012-13 to 12.6 points this past season.
Fast Facts: First all-time in Virginia history in games played (135), and second all-time in made 3-pointers (263). First-team All-ACC as a junior; second-team as a senior.
