TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sean Miller added a third five-star prospect to his 2015 recruiting class Sunday morning, getting a commitment from shooting guard Allonzo Trier.
It's very likely that when recruiting ends, Miller will have his fifth consecutive top five class, and this one has a chance to be No. 1.
Trier, who will attend Findlay Prep in the Las Vegas area as a senior, is rated as the nation's 15th-best prospect by Scout.com and the No. 2 shooting guard.
He committed while on an official visit to Arizona.
"This visit was important," Trier told Scout.com. "I've been here for a day now and it's a place that I really wanted to be. The visit has been great and I just thought it was time to pull the trigger."
Miller, as an assistant on Team USA's U18 team -- which won the FIBA Americas Championship -- helped coached Trier earlier this summer.
"It's great," he told Scout of his relationship with Miller. "Even from a non-basketball standpoint it's great. He's a great guy. He talked about everything and being coached by him at USA was great. I got to build a bond with him there."
Miller has stocked his 2015 recruiting class so far with point guard Justin Simon (No. 14 overall), Trier and small forward Ray Smith (No. 22 overall). Only six of the top 22-rated players have committed so far, and Arizona has three of them.
Trier (6-4, 200) was selected as the top scorer in the summer recruiting circuit by Scout.com.
Wrote Evan Daniels, a national recruiting analyst for Scout.com:
"Trier complements Simon and Smith particularly well. While Simon and Smith have proved themselves as elite level prospects at their positions, neither are particularly strong long-range shooters. That's where Trier comes in.
"A high-level scorer, Trier stands 6-foot-4 and has a powerfully built frame. But don't let his strong physical features fool you, Trier is quick and can create shot opportunities for himself from three, mid-range and at the rim."
That trio is clearly a major part of Arizona's future in that four current UA players could bolt for the NBA early after this season-- freshman Stanley Johnson, sophomore Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, junior Kaleb Tarczewski and junior Brandon Ashley. And UA loses T.J. McConnell to eligibility, as well as backup big man Matt Korcheck.
So, Miller still has room in his recruiting class, likely focusing on big men, including Ivan Rabb (the nation's third-rated prospect), Stephen Zimmerman (No. 8), and Chance Comanche (No. 21).
