NEW YORK – Ciara Gregory, an incoming recruit for the Charlotte women’s basketball program, has been named to as a prestigiousParade All-American, the weekly magazine announced in its latest issue. Gregory, from Jeannette, Pa., is one of five 2013-14 signees for head coach Cara Consuegra’s 49ers.

Gregory was one of just 40 players to make the 57th annual team.

She becomes the third known player in Charlotte women’s basketball history to garner Parade All-America accolades out of high school. Other former Niners on the list included Markita Aldridge (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King HS) in 1991 and Charlette Hargrove (Pinebluff, N.C./Pinecrest HS) in 1993.

Gregory finished her Jayhawks career this season, passing the 2,000-point plateau and collecting numerous awards.

With the 49ers joining Conference USA for the 2013-14 campaign, Gregory is the only member of the 16 schools to be on the list.

A full report on Gregory’s senior year success, along with the remainder of the incoming class, will be available on Charlotte49ers.com in the coming weeks. She will be joining on the collegiate floor in 2013-14 by Tanisha Brown (Loris, S.C./Myrtle Beach HS), Mylia Garner (Siler City, N.C./Jordan-Matthews HS), Kenya Olley (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman HS) and Danielle Webster (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian HS).
