The Halos took Fresno State catcher Taylor Ward in the first round (26th pick overall) on Monday night. Then, in the second round, the Angels took outfielder Jahmai Jones of Wesleyan High School in Georgia.
Ward, a defensive specialist, hit .303 with seven home runs, 14 doubles and 42 RBI as a junior this season for the Bulldogs.
"We are very excited with this selection, and this is a great pick for us," said Angels scouting director Ric Wilson in a statement. "We've scouted him (Ward) all year long and have gotten to know him and feel very comfortable having him join our system.

"He has a tremendous throwing arm, and we think he's going to be a premium big league catcher. We've always liked his skill level and what he can do on both sides of the ball."
On Tuesday, with the 104th overall selection in the third round, the Angels drafted 6-foot-5 Texas A&M pitcher Grayson Long.
