Blue Laser is the early 3-1 favorite for the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot for 2-year-olds that could impact the starting field for next year's Kentucky Derby.
The winner of Saturday's 1 1-16-mile race at Delta Downs will earn $600,000, which could help the horse get into the Kentucky Derby, which is limited to 20 starters. The Derby field is determined by career graded stakes earnings.
Blue Laser drew the No. 8 post in the full field of 10 horses. He is trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan.
The Kentucky-bred horse is owned by WinStar Farm, which won last year's Delta Downs Jackpot with Rule before winning the Kentucky Derby in May with Super Saver.
