Scott Parsons and Ashley Nee earned gold in the single kayak events at the U.S. Olympic trials at Charlotte's Whitewater Center on Saturday, while Benn Fraker captured the single canoe and Eric Hurd and Jeff Larimer won the doubles canoe events.
Parsons, a two-time Olympian, took another step toward representing the Americans in the London Games by beating out Jim Wade and Brett Heyl. Parsons will take a lead into June's World Cup No. 1 in Great Britain.
Nee edged out Caroline Queen, making the two even in points. However, Queen still owns the tiebreaker.
In slalom canoe, Fraker has the most points in the singles, while Hurd and Larimer extended their lead in the doubles.
