Italian bobsledder William Frullani has been banned for seven months after failing a doping test at the Sochi Olympics.
The Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping court issued the verdict Wednesday after a prosecutor had requested a one-year ban.
Frullani tested positive for the banned stimulant dimetylpentylamine on Feb. 18 and was kicked out of the Sochi Games.
He was slated to be the brakeman for Italy's four-man team in Sochi but was removed before he competed.
The 35-year-old Frullani was a five-time national champion in the decathlon and heptathlon before turning to the bobsled.
The ban will expire April 30.
