IOC's Killy sees 'great progress' at Sochi
The head of the IOC's coordination commission for the 2014 Winter Olympics says Sochi is making ''great progress'' in construction and organizing efforts.
Jean-Claude Killy gave the assessment Wednesday after the latest project review by the International Olympic Committee.
Holding the games in the southern Russian resort region has been seen as a particular challenge because all the competition venues are being built from scratch.
Killy says in a statement ''once again, we've seen great progress during our visit to Sochi.''
He says ''the operational planning for the games is reaching a new level of detail. We can see that the experienced team in front of us has truly understood the needs and demands of running an Olympic Games at the highest level.''
