Two male gymnasts suffered devastating injuries Saturday in Rio de Janiero during the qualifying stages, as France's Samir Ait Said broke his leg during a vault and Germany's Andreas Toba tore his ACL in the middle of the floor routine, according to the Guardian.

Toba was in tears and had to be helped off the floor - but he returned later in the competition to complete a pommelhorse routine that helped Germany qualify for the team semifinals. Toba scored a 14.233, placing him 32nd out of the 71 athletes classified.
