HINTERSTODER, Austria (AP) American skier Travis Ganong will sit out the World Cup super-G on Saturday to continue his recovery from a left knee injury.
Ganong says on his Instagram page that he wished ''my knee felt ready to race, but the reality is that I need to give my body more time to heal.''
The world championship silver medalist in downhill hasn't raced since re-aggravating the injury while landing a jump in the Feb. 6 downhill on the course for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
Ganong calls skipping the last-but-one super-G before the World Cup finals a ''tough decision,'' adding that his ''focus now turns to coming back fighting for the podium in Kvitfjell.''
The speed races in Norway include a downhill and a super-G on March 12-13.
