Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis is one of a number of British gold medalists from the London Games to collect honors from Queen Elizabeth II.
Ennis says it was a ''nerve-racking'' experience to meet the queen Thursday and be made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Ennis adds that the queen said ''the summer was amazing'' and asked how training was going.
Other Olympians honored at Buckingham Palace were cyclist Jason Kenny, long jumper Greg Rutherford and boxer Nicola Adams. Dave Brailsford, the performance director of Britain's successful cycling team, was knighted.
