British taekwondo star Aaron Cook says he is appealing his omission from the Olympic team.
Cook is the world's top-ranked fighter in the 80-kilogram division but was told earlier this month that he would not be fighting for Britain at the London Games.
Cook ditched the national taekwondo academy last year to train independently.
In a statement released Monday, he says ''individual sport is about results'' and it was ''ironic'' to be ranked No. 1 and yet denied a chance to compete at the Olympics.
Cook says he's now requesting the British Olympic Association review the selection. He narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in Beijing and has won more tournaments than any other British fighter in his weight category.
