Watch Chiefs LB Justin Houston shame his 12-month recovery timeline

Published Apr. 7, 2016 11:22 a.m. ET

Kansas City Chiefs fans got bad news in late March when the team revealed that four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Justin Houston not only had offseason knee surgery but that he’d need 6 to 12 months to recover.

The news of a February surgery was both surprising (Houston returned from knee issues to play in the postseason) and devastating (12 months would wipe out Houston’s entire 2016 season) for a team that had made it to the playoffs after a 1-5 start.

Before getting to work, Houston responded with a James Harden eye roll to any thought he’d miss the entire year.

And Wednesday night, the linebacker who has 50 ½ sacks in the past four seasons showed off the results of that work in an Instagram post.

If the 27-year-old has come this far in seven weeks after full ACL and LCL surgery – and if he was tough enough to gut out two playoff games with those ligaments not intact – it’s hard to imagine anything stopping him from coming a lot closer to the 6 months than the 12 months in that recovery timeline.
