Source: Packers wideout Nelson's initial diagnosis is torn ACL

The Green Bay Packers' offense may have suffered a devastating blow in Sunday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wide receiver Jordy Nelson left the game in the first series after landing awkwardly on his left leg. While Nelson was able to limp off the field before heading to the locker room, the initial diagnosis isn't optimistic.

The Packers fear Nelson suffered a torn ACL, but they are awaiting MRI results to confirm the diagnosis, FOX Sports 1's NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirmed. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport first reported.

Nelson's absence would certainly be a massive loss for the Packers. Fortunately, they are very deep at the wide receiver position by re-signing Randall Cobb in the offseason.

The Packers also have some emerging talent in Davante Adams, Jeff Janis and Ty Montgomery.

Head coach Mike McCarthy addressed Nelson's injury after the game, but didn't offer specifics:

Nelson had 98 receptions for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2014.
