The popularity of fantasy football has infiltrated NFL players’ lives to the point where fans are begging for two touchdowns on a regular basis, and Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan offered some advice on using quarterback Tyrod Taylor during Week 1.

Put simply, per ESPN’s Mike Rodak, Ryan says Taylor should be in your lineup.

Rex: “I’m calling our fans out. I need you. This guy is No. 1 fantasy QB this week. He’s the play. He’s the go-to guy. Everyone wants him."

Ryan is no stranger to creating buzz for interesting quotes, but this one will attract attention from the massive fantasy football community.

Now, does that mean Taylor should go directly into your lineup? Not necessarily. However, he does have the advantage of little meaningful tape, so Taylor’s dual-threat ability will likely be on full display when Buffalo battles the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sep. 13, at 1 p.m. ET.

Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis offense are capable of posting gaudy numbers and racking up points, so the Bills may be playing from behind. Consequently, running back LeSean McCoy may be more active as a receiver than a runner, which also bodes well for Taylor’s fantasy outlook.

Should Taylor rack up 100-plus rushing yards, avoids interceptions and manages a couple touchdowns, Week 1 might showcase a surprise fantasy star.

Even if that doesn’t happen, Ryan’s words can be chalked up to showing confidence in his quarterback via an entertaining and relatable direction, so the boisterous coach deserves a little credit for that.
