Rex Ryan: Matt Cassel will start first preseason game Friday
On Monday, Rex Ryan confirmed what was probable by saying Matt Cassel will start at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills' first preseason game on Friday.
How much playing time he and the other quarterbacks remains to be seen, but it's not surprising to hear Cassel will be the starter for the first preseason game. Cassel has taken most of the first-team reps in training camp, with EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor mainly practicing with the second team.
Cassel is also the most experienced of the group, which will allow the Bills to run the ball consistently and not worry about the quarterback making crucial mistakes. Defense and a rushing attack will be the keys to victory for the Bills, as they hope to succeed with mediocre play at quarterback.
