Rams' John Fassel Talks Robinson Position Change, Team Morale

John Fassel spoke about the Los Angeles Rams players’ morale and the possibility of moving Greg Robinson to right tackle or guard.

Los Angeles Rams interim head coach John Fassel spoke to the media on Monday, touching on numerous topics including a possible position change for offensive lineman Greg Robinson and the team’s morale.

Robinson, who was inactive for the second time this season in Week 16, is likely to play in the season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.

On Moving Greg Robinson to Right Tackle or Guard

When asked about the troubled third-year player, Fassel said he might play at right tackle or even guard on Sunday, per Myles Simmons of the team’s official website:

“I would anticipate Greg preparing to play as iff he were the starter,” Fassel said. “There’s some movement where Greg can go to left tackle, Rodger could go to right tackle. Or keep Rodger at left tackle, Pace at right tackle, and Greg can swing. So those are discussions that are happening right now.”

It seems Robinson’s position is still open for discussion, but there’s a good chance he’s moved in Week 17. Many have called for the team to switch him to guard, as his poor play at left tackle continues. Robinson hasn’t played at guard since his rookie season.

On Team Morale

Fassel also talked about the team’s moral after having lost 10 of their last 11 games. He doesn’t believe the team has given up in terms of preparation or effort, but does believe morale is low:

“I don’t think the effort or preparation has deteriorated,” Fassel said. “But the morale has, just based on not winning football games, which I think is just human nature. And so I think my job is to build morale up where we fight for one more week.”

Low Morale is just one of the problems this team has. The Rams badly need to hit the reset button after this season and the end of the 2016 campaign can’t come fast enough.
