Patriots claim defensive back Troy Hill off waivers

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) The New England Patriots claimed defensive back Troy Hill off waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday and signed wide receiver Chris Harper to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

The Patriots also released tight end Asante Cleveland and wide receiver Leonard Hankerson.

Hill signed with Cincinnati as a rookie free agent out of Oregon in May. He was signed to the 53-man roster Dec. 5 and had six tackles in three games before being released Thursday.

Harper signed with New England as a rookie free agent out of California in May. He has rotated between the practice squad and the 53-man roster, seeing action in three games.

The Patriots are at the New York Jets on Sunday.
