Green Bay Packers WR Jared Abbrederis learned from Randall Cobb while injured

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis suffered a torn ACL last summer and was sidelined his entire rookie season. Still, while injured, the former fifth-round pick found a way to improve his game by studying rising star Randall Cobb, he told Tim Van Vooren of FOX6Now.com.

"I learned a lot from Cobb—especially in the slot, how he runs his routes and how he gets open, so I learned a lot from last year," Abbrederis said, via FOX6Now.com I probably could have learned a lot more playing, but I did what I could with the circumstances that happened."

Abbrederis, picked a good pass-catcher to keep a close eye on. Cobb had his best season to date in 2014, as he totaled 91 receptions for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. This offseason, the Packers rewarded Cobb for his performance with a new, four-year contract worth $40 million.

If Abbrederis wants to follow in Cobb's footsteps, he'll have to stand out in a crowded competition at wide receiver. After probable starters Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams, Abbrederis must also do battle with Ty Montgomery, Jeff Janis and a host of undrafted rookies.

"The best guy is going to play, so you just have to take advantage of what you get—take advantage of it, make plays and you’ll be out there," Abbrederis told FOX6Now.com.
