DaVante Adams Steps up For Green Bay Packers
Everyone wondered what happened to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers lately. But the problem wasn’t his, he didn’t have receivers getting open. That was until 2015 2nd-round pick DaVante Adams stepped up on Thursday Night Football.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been the toast of Titletown ever since Brett Favre left. I remember when Favre made comments about his early success being due to the talent around him. Many saw that as sour grapes but he had a point.
When you have Jermichael Finley at tight end and Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and Jordy Nelson at receiver, you’re loaded. And of that group, young Nelson was at the bottom of the food chain. Then the rest faded and only Nelson remained.
That wasn’t a problem when he was healthy because he became a superstar himself. But now, he’s coming off a torn ACL with the receiver corps built around him. That means if he’s not doing his thing, the rest of the receivers won’t be able to do theirs.
It usually takes two years to truly get back from a torn ACL, Adrian Peterson and Todd Gurley are rare. So Nelson can’t run by people and get separation like he used to. And that means the rest of the field isn’t as open for the young guys so the passing game stalled.

And during that time the same people who overcelebrated him before think something is wrong with Rodgers. Randall Cobb is a complementary part so he just needed his younger receivers to come around. And on Thursday Night Football, DaVante Adams did.
The Packers took Adams in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft with big plans for him. But last year, he struggled with injuries and didn’t have the season he wanted. He didn’t get off to a blazing start this year either but in looks like he figured it out.
Adams broke out Thursday night for 13 catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns. That night was what the Packers had in mind for him ever since they drafted him. Rodgers got back to usual production and they beat the Chicago Bears 26-10.
There’s nothing wrong with Rodgers and the Packers have a new star receiver!
