Bears guard Kyle Long shares gruesome photo of injured ankle before surgery
Before going under the knife Monday for surgery to repair damaged ligaments in his right ankle, Chicago Bears guard Kyle Long shared a picture of the badly bruised limb.
Call this picture "the cost of being a professional football player":
The three-time Pro Bowl selection suffered the injury in Week 10 when the Chicago visited Tampa Bay and Bears fullback Paul Lasike caught a shovel pass and ended up rolling over Long's ankle.
At a later date, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound fourth-year pro will also require surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Fortunately, Long has not lost his sense of humor. He also shared this before the surgery:
