Andrew Luck hoping to sign new deal with Colts over offseason

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck said this week he's hopeful he and the team can come to terms on a long-term contract extension during the offseason.

Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 draft, is scheduled to make $16.155 million next season in the final year of his contract.

“Yeah, that would be great,” Luck said of a new contract, via CBS 4 Indy's Mike Chappell. “I haven’t thought about it too much. I wanted to make sure this season gets done. But if there’s an opportunity for it, yeah, absolutely.”

Despite missing nine games with injuries and posting the worst statistical season of his four-year career, a new deal would likely place Luck among the highest paid players in the NFL, if not at the very top.

Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay has maintained signing Luck to a new deal is a top priority for the Colts after locking up wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and left tackle Anthony Castonzo with extensions last summer.
