Shaq says ex-teammate Tyronn Lue wasn't allowed to trash-talk him

In the latest round of nostalgic analysis from a former NBA player, communication between teammates used to be different -- a.k.a. the right way -- back in the day.

On last night's "Inside The NBA," TNT analyst and future Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal said he wouldn't let role players like Andre Roberson trash-talk him when he played with them.

According to O'Neal, he only let the Lakers' starters and key bench players talk to him when he was with the franchise from 1996 to 2004, which apparently didn't include Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyonn Lue:

The irony is that the above and below photos prove O'Neal engaged with Lue, which was likely the case with the rest of O'Neal's teammates as well. That's what made Shaq so likeable -- he was funny and outgoing and had a way of relating to his teammates that Kobe Bryant never had.

Nonetheless, everything was better in the previous eras, when stars would ignore and belittle their inferior teammates. Sounds about right.
