Coach Bud: Cavaliers 'were just better than us'

Published Nov. 22, 2015 10:41 p.m. ET

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks are starting to develop a pretty deep familiarity with one another. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the relationship is awfully one-sided at this point.

The Cavaliers, who eliminated Atlanta in last year's Eastern Conference finals, once again defeated the Hawks on Saturday. And Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer didn't think there was much intricacy to the defeat (via Hawks.com):

Bud wasn't around to see most of the loss, however. He received a technical foul in the second quarter while arguing a call before being ejected for bumping into referee Mark Ayotte. After the game, Budenholzer told reporters that he didn't mean to make contact with the official and didn't realize that he had until he was ejected.

The Hawks and Cavaliers do not play again until April 1.

"They took the 15 point lead up to [26] at one point. You need to probably make an initial surge or move. That didn’t happen. From that point on, we did make a couple of runs and showed some spirit and a little bit of competitiveness, but I think they were just better than us tonight.”
