Whitt set to make Sprint Cup debut
Cole Whitt hopes to make his Sprint Cup debut at Phoenix International Raceway on Nov. 13.
Red Bull Racing will field a third Toyota for the 20-year-old native of Alpine, Calif. He currently drives the No. 60 Silverado for Stacy Compton in the Camping World Truck Series. He will likely attempt to qualify the No. 84 Camry.
In his first full season on the truck tour, Whitt has two top fives, 11 top 10s and is ninth in the point standings after 23 races. His best finish this season was second at Dover in the spring.
Whitt made his NASCAR debut last season in the K&N Pro Series. In 10 races, he posted six top fives, seven top 10s and finished fourth in the point standings. Whitt has three Nationwide Series starts and finished 15th in his NNS debut at Phoenix last year.
If all goes well at Phoenix, Red Bull will also run Whitt in the season finale at Homestead Miami Speedway.
