
Roczen set to take fight to Dungey as Supercross arrives on East coast
With two wins in the past three races, Ken Roczen is getting ready to give Ryan Dungey a run for his money in the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross championship.
However, sitting 23 points behind, it won’t be easy for Roczen to claw his way back, as Dungey has finished on the podium in the last 25 450SX Mains.
This Saturday's race at the Georgia Dome marks the first round on the East coast in 2016, meaning we will have a whole new class of 250SX riders to get used to this weekend as well.
Also, with NASCAR in town, some names from the Sprint Cup Series will be making their Supercross debut as they will fight it out behind the handlebars in the first ever Monster Energy Supercross Holeshot Challenge. More information is available here.
Last year, the city of Atlanta played host to two back-to-back Supercross races, with Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey taking the two 450SX Main victories. Dungey and Trey Canard finished on the podium both weekends.
In 250SX, Jeremy Martin and Marvin Musquin took the Main Event victories at Atlanta in 2015. However, with Musquin moving up to the 450SX class, there are no past series champions this year in the 250SX East field, and so a new champion will be crowned at the end of the season. In fact, throughout the whole field, only seven of the riders have ever taken a 250SX Main Event win:
