Moto2 rider Alex Marquez fractured his left wrist in a crash during a private test in Jerez on Feb. 20.

The Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider crashed at the Sito Pons corner, sustaining a fracture to his left triquetrum. He has since returned to Barcelona where he was admitted to the Hospital University Quiron Dexeus and underwent successful surgery on Sunday. Doctors will monitor Marquez’s condition over the next seven days before making the decision as to whether he will be fit enough to resume testing.

Alex Marquez is the 19-year-old younger brother of two-time MotoGP premiere-class World Champion Marc Marquez. He won the Moto3 World Championship in 2014 and finished 14th in the Moto2 points in 2015.
