Isle of Man: Birchall brothers win in sidecar a year after scary crash

Ben Birchall, with passenger and brother Tom Birchall, took the Sure Sidecar TT Race 1 win after completing three laps of the 37.73-mile Snaefell Mountain Course on the Isle of Man in the fastest time on Monday.
Ben Birchall got very close to losing part of his right hand after a frightening incident in last year’s Isle of Man TT, in a crash that was caught on onboard camera:
David Molyneux, who began his Isle of Man TT career back in 1985 and has 17 Isle of Man wins to his name, was leading for most of the first lap with passenger Benjamin Binns, but it all came unfolded at Brandish when their 2015 Suzuki DMR came coasting to a halt.
This handed the lead over to the Birchalls in their 2015 LCR, who boasted a five-second lead at the end of the first lap, and ended up completing the three laps 24 seconds faster than any of their competitors.
Race 2 of the 2015 Sure Sidecar TT races is scheduled to be run on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. local time.
