IndyCar: Pigot to drive fulltime for Carpenter next season

Published Sep. 14, 2017 10:46 p.m. ET

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Spencer Pigot will move fulltime to the IndyCar Series next season for Ed Carpenter Racing.

Pigot has spent the last two seasons as the road and street course driver for ECR. Next season, he'll get the full schedule and take over the No. 21 Chevrolet currently driven by J.R. Hildebrand.

All but four of Pigot's 21 IndyCar starts have been with ECR. He's the 2015 Indy Lights champion.

Pigot has attended every oval event with ECR since joining the team in 2016. He's been on Carpenter's timing stand during each practice and qualifying session and has watched Carpenter race the ovals from the spotter's stand.
