First 2015 Corvette Stingray raises big money for charity at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas

The sale of the first 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Friday raised $400,000 for CARE House of Oakland County (Michigan), which since 1977 has worked with children and families through advocacy, community outreach, intervention, prevention and treatment programs and services.
The white C7 Corvette coupe, VIN No. 001 and Lot No. 3001, crossed the auction block Friday night at the Seventh Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Collector-Car Auction. It tied as the No. 1 seller of the day with a 2013 Lamborghini Aventador that a few minutes earlier also sold for a hammer price of $400,000.
This is literally the first production Corvette to be sold with the new-for-2015 8-speed automatic transmission.
Barrett-Jackson, which in its history has raised nearly $65 million for various charities, will waive all sales commissions and fees, with 100 percent of the Corvette's sale price going directly to the charity.
