Chase Briscoe takes his fifth ARCA win of 2016 at Chicagoland
Chase Briscoe dominated the SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, on Thursday, for his fifth win of the 2016 ARCA season. He has now virtually clinched the championship and also received the honors of winning the Bill France Four Crown.
Rookie Shane Lee kept Briscoe in check for most of the event, having led the field to green for the first time in his ARCA career Thursday night.
Unfortunately for Lee, his right-front tire went down in the late stages of the race, sending him into the wall after he had been running in second position.
He wasn't the only front-runner to hit trouble, as Matt Kurzejewski, Chad Finley, Brandon Jones and even Josh Williams - who had started at the back - suffered from various mechanical issues.
Briscoe had his work cut out for him in the late stages after he overshot his pit stall during his final stop. However, he was quickly able to rally his way back up to the top spot on the restart, passing Christopher Bell cleanly for the lead with 19 laps to go.
Things weren't as clean behind them, as Ty Majeski dropped back through the field on old tires while Austin Cindric was trying to make his way back up through the field, having just got back on the lead lap. Eventually, the two found themselves fighting over the same piece of tarmac. Contact sent Majeski into a slide through turns three and four, which he was able to save, although ultimately it cost him the position:

Back up front there was no stopping Chase Briscoe, who led John Wes Townley and Christopher Bell across the line, after Bell held off a late challenge from Kyle Weatherman.
